
The 2008 Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) football all-conference awards have been announced. The list includes 13 Minnesota, Morris Cougars. Four first-team members, five second team and four honorable mention.
Of the 13, seven are underclass men and return for the 2009 season.
Earning first team all-conference honors for the 2008 season for Minnesota, Morris are:
Junior offensive lineman Theo Powell (Oshkosh, Wis.), Frehsman running back Robert Koranda (Becker, Minn), Nate Copeland (Sr. DL Minneapolis, Minn.) and linebacker Andrew Shay (Sr. Minneapolis, Minn.).
Named second team all-conference were wide receiver Matt Fragodt (Sr. Becker, Minn.), Mike Burrows, senior defensive lineman (Oakdale, Minn.), Mitch Zimmer, freshman (Little Falls, Minn.), Blair Elliott )Sr. LB Forest Lake, Minn.) and sophomore defensive back Nate Lund (Cyrus, Minn).
Honorable mention all-conference honors went to Wyatt Nolan (So. OL Prior Lake, Minn), senior offensive lineman Brandon Lorenz (Sr. White Bear Lake, Minn, junior defensive backs Corey Hemphill (Chicago, Ill.) and Shane Fickes (Herman, Minn.)
For Matt Fragodt it was the fourth straight season he was name all- conference. Matt became the all-time career touch down leader in Cougar football history with 26 over four years.
Andrew Shay, Blair Elliott earned all-conference honors for the third straight year and Bran Don Lorenz and Nate Copeland were second time award recipients.
Freshman running back Robert Koranda became the first Cougar in recent history to rush for over 1,000 yards in his first season, finish with 1,046 yards.
