A lapse in play for just a few seconds can hurt you, even penalize you worse than the infraction perhaps warrants. The Cougar women’s soccer team battled St. Scholastica Saturday afternoon evenly except for a momentary lapse early in the first half that allowed the Saints’ Angie Groh to put away the game’s only goal in the fourth minute of play. The contest was marked by physical play on both sides, plenty of collisions and shirt grabbing. The Cougars were called for eight fouls to St. Scholastica’s ten. For the game, Scholastica had eight shots on goal. UMM had five. The win moved Scholastica to 7-3-1. The Cougars fall to 5-6 and host Northland College tomorrow afternoon at 2 p.m. Box Score
