Coaches
A graduate of the University of Minnesota, Morris, Braegelmann has served as the head women’s volleyball coach at Colby-Sawyer College in New London, N.H., for the past seven seasons. Braegelmann’s Colby-Sawyer teams compiled a 54-9 record in conference play, winning two conference championships and twice advancing to the NCAA Division III National Tournament. Braegelmann was twice named The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) Coach of the Year.
Braegelmann received his bachelor of arts degree in management and sports management with a minor in economics from UMM in 2000. He earned his masters degree from Northern State University in 2001. As a UMM student he served as a student assistant coach for the Cougar women’s volleyball team and competed with the men’s club volleyball team against college and university club teams from across the upper Midwest.
Coach Braegelmann led the Colby-Sawyer Chargers to six conference championship match appearances, double-digit wins in all seven seasons, and attained the most wins in a season in school history in any sport. Volleyball athletes were successful off the court as well, earning the top team academic grade point average of Colby-Sawyer’s sports teams multiple times.

Heather Pennie begins her first season as assistant volleyball coach. Pennie received her Bachelors Degree at UMM in 1994. She was a four year letter winner in volleyball and softball. Pennie did her graduate work at NSIC rival Northern State University.
Coach Pennie took over as head volleyball coach in 1998. She is also the head softball coach at the University of Minnesota, Morris. A native of Villard Minnesota, Pennie was a standout high school athelete at Villard Public school, which is now Minnewaska Area High school.
UMM’s long-time head volleyball coach, Pennie, will continue to serve as senior woman administrator for intercollegiate athletics and head softball coach.
