HealthFood and waterborne diseases are one of the major causes of illness to travelers. It is difficult to guarantee the safety of a country's food products. Food quality is a particular concern in countries without strict public health standards, where bacteria or parasites may go undetected. EAT

Bring a supply of water purification tablets If you have doubts about the water, don't use ice in your drinks If you wear glasses, bring an extra pair Carry medications in your carry-on luggage
If you have a preexisting medical problem, carry a letter from your doctor describing the condition and any medications for it (include the generic name of the drug) Observe the same health precautions as traveling in the United States
