The Edna Snee Rodgers Scholarship
Purpose/Eligibility
Established by the family of C. Frederick Farrell, Jr. and the late Edith Rodgers Farrell in memory of Edna Snee Rodgers, this award is intended to assist women (1) in making the transition back to college after a substantial absence in order to pursue other objectives or (2) in beginning college for the first time later in life.
Selection Criteria:
1. Potential for completing a bachelor’s degree is primary. Applicants must be women and should be degree candidates, either full or part-time.
2. That potential will be measured by the applicant’s brief written statement of goals and plans, including a timeline for completing a bachelor’s degree.
3. Financial need is to be an important criterion in selecting the recipient, but it need not be primary.
4. Primary preference is given to women admitted to the Morris Campus of the University of Minnesota. If no qualified applications are received from UMM students, then women admitted to other campuses of the University will be invited to apply.
5. Women making the transition back to college after a substantial absence will receive preference over those beginning college for the first time later in life; however, students meeting either criteria who are admitted to the Morris campus shall receive preference over those admitted to other campuses.
6. The term “substantial absence” shall be interpreted to mean at least a five years absence from college.
