As a Summer Scholar, you will experience the excitement of a college classroom under the instruction of two professors who are master teachers and experts in their field. They will be your instructors during the entire program—in the classroom, during discussions, on field trips, in labs—and they will evaluate all of your work. Two UMM students will serve as your teaching assistants, providing academic support in and out of the classroom, as well as supervision and guidance in the residence hall.
During the program, you will learn about writing papers, developing critical thinking skills, using a college library, participating in classroom discussion and interacting with peers who share your same interests and intellectual curiosity. You will experience what it is like to live in a residence hall, have a roommate and get to know other students from the upper Midwest—and beyond. You will learn firsthand what college is like and, best of all, you will have earned two credits that can be used towards your degree at UMM or another college or university.
We invite you to join us for two weeks in July. Read on for more information on the program and the application process.
