Join us from June 16-27, 2008, for the 35th Annual Henjum Creative Study Institute (CSI) at the University of Minnesota, Morris, for two weeks of fun, learning and exploration in arts, music and technology for ages 12-17 (grades 6-11 completed).
Day and residential programs are available with one- or two-week options.
Since 1974, over 4,000 students have participated in the Henjum Creative Study Institute. Outstanding teachers, unique classes, bright and motivated students, college facilities and lots of FUN make the Institute a great place to go for exciting summer study. Choose three courses from a variety of subjects taught by UMM faculty, students and alumni, area teachers, CSI alumni and other community experts. Family and friends are invited to attend the Creative Study Institute “Showcase Day” program featuring student projects and performances on June 27, 2008.
UMM Campus
The Henjum Creative Study Institute is held at the University of Minnesota, Morris, which is nationally recognized for academic
excellence. The University of Minnesota, Morris is named one of the top five public liberal arts colleges in the nation by U.S. News & World Report in its 2007 rankings of America's Best Colleges. Declared "a model liberal arts college" by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools in its recent re-accreditation report, UMM's mission as an affordable, undergraduate college complements its small, residential atmosphere.
Transportation
Day program participants may add their name to a carpool list that will be shared with other interested Creative Study families. For more information about the carpooling option, see the registration form or call Karen Cusey, CSI program director, at 320-589-6461.
Residential Program
The CSI Resident Program includes day course topics, course material fees, residence hall fees, evening and weekend activities with other resident students and staff, a full meal plan and snacks. Resident students must send a non-refundable deposit of $100 along with their registration.
Residential Program Fees:
$700 for one week (minus discounts and scholarships)
$1,400 for two weeks (minus discounts and scholarships)
Week #1 resident check-in Sunday, June 15, 2008
Week #2 resident check-in Sunday, June 22, 2008.
Day Program
The CSI Day Program includes one, two or three course topics and course material fees. A lunch meal plan is available for $45, which includes a total of nine meals from June 16–20 and June 23 –26, 2008.
Day Program Fees:
$60 to $350 (minus discounts and scholarships)
Scholarships & Discounts
Scholarships:
A limited number of CSI Scholarships based on financial need are available to pay for a portion of program fees. Request a scholarship packet along with a CSI brochure and send a completed scholarship packet along with CSI registration form by April 20 to qualify for scholarships. Scholarships will be awarded between May 21 and June 1, 2008. Scholarship applicants will be notified by mail, with a final bill indicating any outstanding amount due toward the CSI program.
Tuition Discounts:
To qualify for any discounts and/or scholarships, registration packets must be received by the early application deadline (April 20, 2008). Full payment of Creative Study Institute fees minus discounts and scholarships will be due on June 1, 2008. See program fees chart below for discounts based on program options. Registrations without discounts or scholarships will be accepted through June 1, 2008.
