Consultative Committee Minutes
September 2, 2005


 Members in attendance:  Brenda Boever, Nancy Carpenter, Roland Guyotte,
Judy Korn, Margaret Kuchenreuther, Tim Lindberg, Gretchen Murphy, Michelle
Page, Geoff Sheagley, Rebecca Webb 
 

Members absent:  Pam Gades, and two students who have yet to be elected

 
Election of Chair:  Roland Guyotte was elected Chair for the coming year.

 
Meeting Time:  No time during the 8:00 am-4:30 pm Monday through Friday
work week is completely free of scheduling conflicts.  Therefore, only the
next meeting was set.  It is scheduled for Wed., Sept. 7 at noon.~

 
Secretarial Support for Consultative Committee:  At the fall faculty
retreat it was suggested that Consultative Committee have secretarial
support, as do other major campus committees.  Whether or not to request
such support will be discussed at an upcoming meeting.

 
Issues on the Committee Agenda:  In a recent meeting, Margaret
Kuchenreuther, Chair of Consultative Committee, Andy Lopez, Chair of
CRPC, Jeff Ratliff-Crain, Vice-Chair of Executive Committee and Nancy
Carpenter, member of the Senate Faculty Consultative Committee met with
the Chancellor to discuss how to handle the need to both create a
strategic plan and begin the search for a new Chancellor before the end of
fall semester.  The Chair and Vice-Chair of Executive Committee agreed
that the Consultative Committee should be responsible for creating a list
of recommendations for members of the Chancellor's search committee, which
will be forwarded to President Bruininks.  It was also agreed that CRPC,
rather than a special task force, would undertake the strategic planning
process.

 
Consultative Committee has also been asked by the Dean to recommend
members of the Level II Committee representing the Divisions of Social
Science and Education.

 
Recommendations for Chancellor's Search Committee:  A preliminary list of
recommendations was generated.  It will be refined at the next meeting.
