(3:20-3:30) Materials Distributed During the Meeting: o Draft Minutes of October 6, 1998 Meeting o A Copy of the Article V of UMM Constitution o A Copy of the Section 2 of UMM By-Laws o A Copy of the Article III of UMM Constitution o Inputs that have been received from UMM community o A Copy of the Memorandum from Assistant Academic Dean for Faculty Affairs o A List of UMM Civil Service/Bargaining Unit Employees o A List of UMM P&A Staff/Part-time Faculty o A List of UMM Non-tenured & Temporary Faculty o A List of UMM Tenured Faculty 0. No agenda items added or modified on the tentative agenda. 1. The minutes of the October 6, 1998 meeting approved unanimously. 2. The Committee started to discuss the organization of the Consultative Committee, and considered the following possible organizational structure: o The Committee may direct any issue to a subcommittee by a majority vote. If an issue is externally directed to a subcommittee, any Committee member may ask for the consideration of an issue as a committee. If the majority of the Committee agrees then the external source will be informed and asked for the approval of the change. The external source's decision will determine the direction. o The subcommittees will report to the Committee on any issue that they have handled. The issues that are brought to the Committee's attention are: o (From UMM Constitution) E. The Campus Consultative Committee may determine that particular matters of business can be handled best by the constituent-represented subcommittees or by individual members of the committee. F. An individual has the right to choose the subcommittee or the individuals on the committee to whom the individual's business will be submitted. o Does a subcommittee wait for the approval of the Committee to consider an issue? o The Committee and the subcommittees may lose the trust of UMM community and appear distant from them by employing organized, strict rules.
