Many departments did not discuss the plans with their employees. Employees did not know what their new roles would be if there was a strike and many supervisors did not communicate their plan even after the strike started. We will ask Sarah to follow up with all managers. We also discussed what our role is in helping our AFSCME employees. We will send a letter to University and the Union. It will be neutral but direct that there are areas that are not going smoothly and things are not being done on the Morris Campus. We do miss, appreciate, and need our staff. We will also send a letter to Sarah Mattson and Sam Schuman, communicating the problems with the strike and that we want to take a proactive role with the changes and the healing of our campus community. We also need more communication from administration to the students. Like, what is happening with the strike, office changes and new office hours? We discussed how the increased workload on students would affect their financial aid in the future. Students will run out of their money before the end of school when they may need it. Michelle will prepare letters to Central administration and Sam & Sarah. Student Sub Committee, Kevin gave us a list of the student concerns.
