Consultative Committee February 9, 2004 Present: Michelle Page, Bart Finzel, David Wuolu, Mary Zosel, Brenda Boever, Kevin Ely, Reggie Davis, Tim Brooks Absent: Margaret Kuchenreuther, Jeff Ratliff-Crain (XO), Rebecca Webb, Joyce Amborn, Cendy Gonzales Discussion of student activities search committee: The committee discussed whether a member of the student activities office should be on the search committee. Multiple viewpoints were raised and presented to the Vice Chancellor. Recommendations regarding the search: * If someone from the student activities office is to be included, have a larger search committee of approximately 7-8 members * As in other searches, make sure to gather feedback from the office and campus via paper evaluations, lunch meetings with students and others * Make hiring decision and communicate it to the campus before students leave for summer Search Committee membership: * In terms of composition, several possibilities were mentioned—a chair, a director from another unit, staff, faculty, an MSP person, an ORL person, and students. We recognize that it may not be possible to involve all of these people but these categories were mentioned. * In addition, specific names were put forward for consideration. Next week’s meeting: * Discussion of BTF forum and report, CC’s role * Administrative reviews—who’s up for review? Does CC have a role? * Discussion of Faculty Affairs committee (invite someone for future meeting to discuss mission differentiation) * CRPC
