Assessment
and Goals
:

GOALS:  This course will provide students with the knowledge and skills to become a self-employed guitar teacher or an instructor at the post-secondary level. It ensures that students who may use the university facilities to teach guitar to community members are of consistent quality.

ASSESSMENT:  These goals can be assessed by tracking how many students, after taking this course, continue to teach guitar to the Morris community and beyond.

Rationale for
Changes or
Exceptions
:

RATIONALE:  As there is no direct employment path for guitar performance majors, it is likely that many will become self-employed teachers to supplement their income as they continue studies or work as professional musicians. This course provides the information needed to begin teaching privately and a solid background for starting a business with confidence and professionalism. This course addresses a community need, as there are no established professional guitar teachers in Morris at this time.
