Assessment:
Students will be expected to complete daily reading assignments and
participate in class discussions of the material. There will be two in-class
exams, periodic journal submissions, a research paper and an in-class group
presentation. Goals: Students should demonstrate the ability to analyze
literary texts, using the text as well as the aesthetic, political,
historical, and philosophical context in which the work was produced. |

CURRENT PROGRAM STRUCTURE INCLUDES BROAD COVERAGE OF THE 19TH CENTURY IN
PENINSULAR SPANISH LITERATURE. THIS COURSE PROVIDES IN-DEPTH COVERAGE OF A
KEY MOMENT IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF SPANISH LITERATURE AND ITS RELATIONSHIP TO
WIDER POLITICAL, SOCIOLOGICAL AND PHILOSOPHICAL TRENDS OF THE PERIOD. |
