Beginning and advanced reading instruction in the elementary grades. Includes study of theory, issues, literacy frameworks, assessment, materials, organization, and instructional strategies to scaffold childrenŐs literacy development.

The Minnesota Department of Education recommends that ŇReading MethodsÓ be included in the title of courses that teach preservice teachers how to teach reading in accordance with scientific research based reading practices as identified in the federal No Child Left Behind legislation..
