Please summarize the intent of the proposed changes.
The primary change being proposed is in the major
requirements. In response to feedback from students, we are increasing the
degree of student choice in the selection of courses in the major. The current
program requirements specify 13 courses and allow the choice of 1 additional
elective. The proposed requirements specify 11 courses and allow the choice of
3 additional electives.
We are also changing to a more standard
approach on the minimum GPA and on the use of D grades in the major.
