Rationale (see instructions):

University policy defines one credit and three hours of learning effort per week. Currently, students complete at least 150 hours of learning effort in their practicum placement. In addition, students complete professional seminars and other activities. Therefore, the learning effort required by this course is well in excess of the current two credit load and the credit load should be augmented to four credits.

Each of these courses contains content pertaining to middle level learners and is taken by students studying to be grade 5-12 teachers, which encompasses middle level and thus the title should reflect this. Since the courses now integrate more middle level content, the credit load must be changed to more accurately reflect the content of the courses. Finally, this four credit course replaces two courses (3 credits and 1 credit) and will enhance the registration process as students now register for one course rather than a combination of two.
