Proposal Changes: |
Covering the goals of College Writing over the course of an academic year is a standard practice at other universities for students who are unprepared for college-level writing. The English Discipline will work with Academic Advising and Admissions to identify such students and to encourage their enrollment in the two-course series rather than in College Writing. The course series will allow for continuity from fall to spring semester; students and instructor will work together over the course of a year on a series of interconnected essays that build from basic skills to completion of College Writing goals. |
|||
|
History Information: |
Currently, students who enroll in Fundamentals of Writing in the Fall take College Writing with a different instructor in the spring. |

Rationale for |
STUDENTS WHO ARE ENROLLED IN FUNDAMENTALS OF WRITING CURRENTLY TAKE COLLEGE WRITING DURING THE SPRING SEMESTER. THIS COURSE WOULD ALLOW THE SAME PROFESSOR TO FOLLOW THROUGH WITH THE SAME GROUP OF STUDENTS OVER THE COURSE OF YEAR TO HELP STUDENTS IMPROVE BASIC WRITING SKILLS AND COVER THE COURSE GOALS OF COLLEGE WRITING WITHOUT REPEATED COVERAGE OF MATERIAL. |
