Introduction to current physics research topics not typically found in the standard physics curriculum. Investigation into one of these topics and a short public presentation. Exposes students investigating physics as a possible major or minor to presentation and literature searching techniques and helps build skills necessary for senior seminar.

THIS CLASS SERVES TO EXPOSE INTERESTED STUDENTS TO MODERN POPULAR TOPICS IN PHYSICS IN AN INFORMAL SETTING. THIS EXPOSURE ALSO SERVES TO ASSIST STUDENTS IN DECIPHERING WHAT SUB-DISCIPLINE (S) OF PHYSICS EXIST AND WHERE THEIR INTERESTS LIE IN PREPARATION FOR CHOOSING A TOPIC FOR SENIOR SEMINAR. IT ALSO REPRESENTS OPPORTUNITY TO PRACTICE LITERATURE SEARCHES, AND ORAL PRESENTATIONS WITHIN THE SPECIFIC CONTEXT OF THE PHYSICS DISCIPLINE. 1 CR COURSE DOES NOT MEET GENED REQUIREMENT.
