Students will demonstrate control of the materials through testing, written critiques, and oral demonstrations.

Goals: This course will support mastery of the principles and practices involved in the areas of Public Speaking, Interpersonal Communication, and Small Group Communication for the prospective teacher in grades 5-12 or others seeking licensure.

New: WHEN FIRST SUBMITTED, THE COURSE WAS STILL UNDER DEVELOPMENT. WITH THE COMPLETION OF THAT WORK LAST SUMMER, THE DISCIPLINE NOW BELIEVES THAT ETHICAL AND CIVIC RESPONSIBILITY MORE ACCURATELY DESCRIBES THE FOCI OF THE COURSE. SPCH 2071 INCORPORATES PUBLIC SPEAKING, SMALL GROUP COMMUNICATION, AND INTERPERSONAL COMMUNICATION. BY CHANGING THE DESIGNATOR, THE COURSE WILL BE IN LINE WITH THE DESIGNATORS OF OTHER COURSES IN SPEECH COMMUNICATION EXPLORING PUBLIC SPEAKING.
