Course Revision #1

I. Give complete UMM catalog entry (deletions in strikethru font, additions underlined)(see instructions)

Biol 1051f. Wildlife Biology. (Sci-L; 4 cr; no elective credit for biol majors or minors; offered when feasible even-numbered years)

II. Rationale (see instructions):

"Regular" alternate-year offering now appears to be feasible.

Course Revision #2

I. Give complete UMM catalog entry (deletions in strikethru font, additions underlined)(see instructions)

Biol 1101f,s. Freshman Seminar in Biological Principles. (Sci; 4 3 cr; prereq biology major/minor or #)

Basic principles of biology, including cellular organismal function, inheritance, and emphasizes scientific methods and the biological literature. Includes small group discussions. First course of the biology major sequence. (three two 65-min lect and discussion)

II. Rationale (see instructions):

The credit load is being dropped from 4 to 3 because this course originally required a component of writing a term paper. That component has been removed and will become part of an added Biological Communications skills class that students will take as sophomores or juniors.

Course Revision #3

I. Give complete UMM catalog entry (deletions in strikethru font, additions underlined)(see instructions)

Biol 4121s. Herpetology. (Sci-L; 4 cr; prereq 2101; offered when feasible odd-numbered years)

II. Rationale (see instructions):

"Regular" alternate-year offering now appears to be feasible.

Course Revision #4

I. Give complete UMM catalog entry (deletions in strikethru font, additions underlined)(see instructions)

Biol 4131f. Vertebrate Natural History. (Sci-L; 4cr; prereq 2101; offered even odd-numbered years)

II. Rationale (see instructions):

This better distributes the biology elective courses.

Course Revision #5

I. Give complete UMM catalog entry (deletions in strikethru font, additions underlined)(see instructions)

Biol 3111 4211f. Biochemistry. (Sci; 4 cr; prereq 1101, 2111, Chem 2302 or #)

Structures, functions, and biochemical transformations of proteins, carbohydrates, nucleic acids, and lipids. (three 65 min lect)

II. Rationale (see instructions):

Course number is changed because this course will become an elective for the Biology major, rather than a required course.

Course Revision #6

I. Give complete UMM catalog entry (deletions in strikethru font, additions underlined)(see instructions)

Biol 3112 4611f. Biochemistry lab. (1 cr; prereq 3111 or 4211 or ¶4211) Experiments using the major separation and analytical techniques of biochemistry, including centrifugation, chromatography, electrophoresis, and spectrophotometry.

II. Rationale (see instructions):

This course currently exists as Biol 3112 but is not listed in the bulletin. The course number is changing to clarify that this single- credit course does not serve as an elective course for Biology majors.
