Needed to meet new MN BOT licensure standards for elementary education majors pursuing a preprimary teaching specialty.

The students will implement concepts and skills from coursework by working with children age 3 to grade 3. Students will-

  • work effectively with all learners
  • plan, implement, and assess lessons
  • communicate clearly and professionally with students and colleagues.

How will you ASSESS the success of this course in achieving the GOALS described above?

  1. Analyze the setting of the field experience. What are the characteristics of the community? of the school?
  2. Use knowledge of community and students to plan a 3-lesson mini-unit
  3. Set up a dramatic play center that is developmentally appropriate in content and activities. Analyze success of center in terms of student learning and personal growth.
  4. Implement personal guidance strategies-interview/shadow preprimary teacher
