IS 1033. UCCE: Writing Workshop: Growing Up American (E/CR; 2.0 cr; SP-admission to UMM Summer Scholars program; 2 yrs HS English; 1 yr HS history; S-N only)

"Growing Up American" will look at personal identity, relationships with adults, American heroes and role models as reflected primarily in the history and literature of the United States. Develops skills of written expression through examination of the topic of ‘growing up in America’ as reflected in literature, history and film.

Changes in title and description are designed to reflect the course’s emphasis on writing.

If time does not allow for the regular approval procedures to be completed before the course is to be taught, or if a course will be taught only once, "provisional approval" can be secured for a one-time offering of the course.
