Psy 3701. Organizational Behavior. (SS; 4 cr; prereq jr or sr)

Same as Mgmt 3701. How organizations function at the individual, group, and organizational levels. Topics include: stress in the workplace; group dynamics; power, leadership and attribution theory.

II. Rationale (see instructions):

This is a fundamental course in both psychology and management. It was previously offered in Management under quarters. This restores the course under semesters. In both cases, it was taught by an I/O psychologist with content appropriate to both Management and Psychology. We now recognize this fact by double-listing the course in Management and Psychology.

1.     Identify and describe organizational behavior concepts, theories and research (OBCTRs).

2. Use OBCTRs to explain human behavior in a variety of organizational situations.

3. Given an organizational situation, be able to use OBCTRs to improve the functioning of the organization.

How will you ASSESS the success of this course in achieving the GOALS described above?

 

The course goals will be assessed using written exams. Additionally, there will be a term paper and one or two case study papers.
