Comprehensive analysis of organization and management of athletics and recreation.

 

II. Rationale (see instructions):

Over the last year the WSS discipline has developed an Area of Concentration in Sports Management. This course, as well as, WSS 4101, are courses that have been taught as directed studies over the last couple of years. It is time to start offering these courses as regular courses due to the increased number of students that have shown an interest in this area of study.

To teach students to understand management and planning processes, management skills, functions, roles, decision-making, leadership, shared systems, and organizational motivation as it relates to sports and recreation.

 

How will you ASSESS the success of this course in achieving the GOALS described above?

 

Students will be assessed through tests, papers, presentations and various class projects that will examine various programs such as the RFC and UMM Athletic Department.
