Hist 2001. Introduction to the Historian’s Craft. (Hist; 4 cr; recommended for students new to the history major or seriously considering majoring in history; offered when feasible)

A brief introduction to the historian’s craft using readings and analysis of outstanding examples of that craft.

 

II. Rationale (see instructions):

The History discipline lacks a fundamental introduction to the craft of history. This course will fill that void.

Participation in and contributions to discussion of assigned works. Several short papers on assigned model historians.
