WSS 2331.CE: Personal Training Preparation. (2 cr, additional tuition required; course not included in UMM tuition band; subject to minimum enrollment requirement; S-N only)

Concepts, theory, practice, and research in personal training and conditioning. Basic anatomy and physiology, principles of strength training, overview of training equipment, fitness assessments, designing individual exercise programs, legal liabilities, national certifications, and review of research. Preparation for national certification examinations in the areas of personal training and strength conditioning.

 

II. Rationale (see instructions):

The rationale for this course is to provide UMM students and community adult students with the opportunity to learn about and become skilled at personal training. Upon completion of the course, students will be prepared to take a national certification examination in personal training and be able to work as a personal trainer at public and private facilities.

The goals of the course are to educate and prepare students about the skills and basic knowledge of personal training. Students completing this course and passing national certifications will be prepared to works as a personal trainer, fitness specialist or sports strengthening coach.

 

How will you ASSESS the success of this course in achieving the GOALS described above?

 

Students will complete mid-term and final exams, assignments and quizzes and take practical tests.
