Advisors,

 

An assessment of first semester freshman advising  2001 is attached. The advising questionnaires were distributed in December through FYS and drew a record  430 responses. Students had to either agree or disagree with a statement  or find it not applicable.

 

Once again the results are positive. Between last year and this, the percentage of students who 'agreed' or 'strongly agreed' with most questions rose slightly, staying in the 70 and 80 percents. We've improved in the two consistently low-scoring "expectations" categories as well (#10 & 11 below). The high percentage of students who disagreed suggests they want to know what to expect from advisers as well as what you expect from them.

up from 49.6% to 54.4%

39.8 % disagreed.

 

11. My adviser explained what I can expect from my adviser...

up from 53.1% to 61.6%

33% disagreed.
