The CW Spring Luncheon will be at
the LaFave house on April 30th. The time will be 11:30-1:30 in order to accommodate various lunch
hours and the format will be buffet.
The theme is Stress Management for Women and will recognize that
women deal with stress differently than men (tend and befriend). Women will be asked to RSVP and commit to
$5.00 for the lunch which will be collected at the door (or in advance). The CW will provide dessert, and some
surprises! Invitations will be sent out April 9th.
The
board reviewed the bylaws that were established in ’93. Clare distributed a
handout that explained what the board looks like now, what the bylaws say it
should look like, and proposed changes. It was decided that the board would
vote on the changes when more members would be present.
Sara
Mennen made an announcement that the Sexual Assault Prevention Committee would
be sponsoring a National Shout-out which is similar to Take Back the Night.
Sara asked for the Commission’s support and it was determined that CW will pay
printing costs for posters.
The
leftover shower cards from Breast Cancer Awareness Month will be donated to the
UMM Wellness Center, Stevens Travers Public Health, and/or the UMM Counseling
Center.
The
spring newsletter will feature an article on Jen Lund about R.A.D.
training. Other newsletter articles are
due to Carol soon!
A
$100 grant was awarded to Clare Strand for tuition to attend a seminar in
St.
Cloud regarding “Conflict Management Skills for Women.”
Argie
wrote an email to the board with an update about the on-going discussion of new
space for Commission on Women, WRC, WOCA, Equality, Queer Issues subcommittee.
