Constitutional Revision Taskforce 2005-2010The Constitutional Revision Taskforce was an ad hoc committee charged by former Chancellor Sam Schuman to review the UMM Constitution. Suggestions for areas of consideration included the amendment process and discrepancies between campus policy and practice.History of the process: Fall 2006: Open Forums were held Nov. 16 and Nov. 29. Questions discussed may be found in the Nov. 6 proceeding notes. Members of the campus community were also able to participate in the discussion via the on-line forum. Fall 2009: The Campus Assembly approved a motion for the Executive Committee to make minor editorial changes to the proposed constitution. Amendments to the proposed constitution were brought to Campus Assembly and voted upon. A process for voting on the proposed constitution was approved by the Campus Assembly. Spring 2010: A motion to approve the proposed revised constitution was voted upon by members of the Campus Assembly. There were not enough votes in favor of the proposed constitution for it to be ratified. A motion to bring the proposed constitution to the Campus Assembly again in the future was approved and the Executive Committee was charged with creating the process and leading this initiative. Fall 2010: The Executive Committee implemented a process for again voting upon the proposed constitution. It was approved.
