The University of Minnesota, Morris strives to be the best public liberal arts college in the nation, providing our student body with an affordable top-quality education.
To accomplish this, we seek to offer students of outstanding ability and motivation an intellectually liberating learning experience, provided by a faculty and staff dedicated to excellent teaching, exemplary scholarship, and effective management and support services.
As an integral part of the University
of Minnesota, we are deeply connected to our region and its people.
We endeavor to have our population of students, faculty and staff reflect
the diversity of our state, region and nation. We intend to enhance
our national status by building upon a foundation of strong community and
regional links.
Strategic Goals
I. Enhance regional and national recognition and visibility of UMM.
Objectives:
A. Develop an integrated marketing plan to improve visibility of
UMM nationally and regionally as well as within the
University of Minnesota system.
B. Preserve and improve UMM's historic mall and pursue recognition
as a National Historic District.
II. Strengthen, increase, and diversify the resource base for UMM.
Objectives:
A. Achieve a successful Campaign Minnesota outcome, exceeding our
$6 million goal, fulfilling our key Campaign objectives,
and positioning UMM to continue strong fundraising momentum in the post-Campaign
period.
B. Develop a long-range strategic financial plan to provide a high
quality yet affordable education for our students, integrating
legislative and University support, tuition, financial aid, aggressive
fundraising, and grants development.
C. Continue progress toward the goal of 2000 student FTEs by 2006.
D. Secure funding for Social Science renovation and continued implementation
of the Campus Master Plan.
III. Strengthen the UMM Community
Objectives:
A. Attract and retain high quality students, faculty and staff, with a continuing effort to improve campus diversity.
B. Improve student satisfaction and retention by providing excellent
and innovative classroom instruction, careful and responsive
academic advising, high quality academic support services, and meaningful
co-curricular opportunities.
C. Increase research opportunities and international experiences for students and faculty.
D. Improve faculty and staff retention through improved compensation,
strengthened communication, and realistic evaluation of
work load and responsibilities.
E. Strengthen existing community relationships while seeking new
ties to our region.
