Sample Suspension Letter

May Year

You have been suspended from the University of Minnesota for one year. Last fall you were placed on probation. Good standing requires students to maintain an overall GPA of 2.000. Currently, your spring term GPA and cumulative GPA are below 2.000. All current registration has been administratively canceled. As of this date you are not eligible for financial aid.

In order to take courses at any University of Minnesota campus in the future, you have three options:

  1. Complete any I, K, or X grades prior to the beginning of classes next term. This may result in the immediate lifting of your suspension. To be reinstated, all grade changes must be received in the Office of the Registrar prior to August 20, Year. If you are expecting a grade change, notify the Scholastic Committee when the change has been posted by emailing.
  2. You may appeal to return after an absence of one regular academic semester. Your appeals to return in spring Year must be submitted by July 1, 2012 (changing to June 30 in 2013). The committee’s decision and notification will be made by the end of July. Complete the Suspension Appeal Form, and submit it electronically.
  3. If you do not appeal, suspension is for two semesters (one full academic year), and you must apply for readmission. The best way to demonstrate your readiness to return to the University of Minnesota is to provide documentation of success in courses from another college.

It is possible that you will receive a separate notice from the Financial Aid Office concerning your eligibility for financial aid. If you have questions email.

If you have questions or concerns about the information above, please contact Judy Korn kornjr@morris.umn.edu, Scholastic Committee executive staff, at 320-589-6011.
