(Not Pictured: David Ehrensperger, Aaron Dressen.) The UMM Web Group (originally the WWW Advisory Committee) was formed in February 1996. Its charge was to advise the Webmaster (John Bowers) and the Web Site Designer (Nancy Mooney) on the many issues involved in managing a web site. The group helps set priorities and policies for UMM's web site, share knowledge and opinions about HTML authoring, fosters the creation of Web sites for the disciplines, and acts as a sounding board for the entire site design. Nancy Mooney (chair), John Bowers, Roger Boleman, Mike Cihak, David Wuolu, Peh Ng, Judy Riley, Lael Daire and Adrian Daley, first began meeting on February 14, 1996. They formed UMM's first Web policy document in May 1996 which details the guidelines for the creation and maintenance of World Wide Web sites on the UMM campus. The first redesigned Web site was unveiled on May 30, 1996. Since that time, new site designs have been implemented about once every year. Their ongoing mission is to improve the site, maintain its currency in the face of changing technology, and promote its growth and development on the UMM campus. Some specific issues facing the committee are developing new policies, ordering new Web authoring equipment and software, teaching classes to the campus community, and exploring options for further development.
