Cougar Cash
Cougar Cash is how you pay for photocopies, laser printing, and color printing in Briggs Library and UMM Computing Services labs.
Cougar Cash is the cash value stored on the magnetic stripe of a UMM U-Card or Cougar Cash card. The Cougar Cash value may be used to make photocopies and microform copies in the Library, and to print from computers in the Library and in all Computing Services labs. Cougar Cash does not require a bank account and does not bill against your University account. It is value that you add and use yourself. Cougar Cash is available for the use of all students, faculty, staff, and visitors on the UMM campus.
Where can I use Cougar Cash?
Use Cougar Cash to make photocopies on the main floor of Briggs Library or the student lounge (ten cents per copy); or to print from any campus lab computer to laser printers in the library and lab locations (five cents per page):
- Computing Services main lab (Behmler 10)
- Library computers
- Library third floor lab
- Imholte 11
- Student Center 24-hour lab
- Science 2530
You may also use Cougar Cash to print to color printers in the Library reference area.
How do I keep using a card that has run out of value?
To add more value to a Cougar Cash card, use the Cougar Cash revalue machines located in the vending area of Behmler Hall (first floor) or the 24-hour Computing Services lab in the Student Center. If you don't have a Cougar Cash card available, the Cougar Cash revalue stations can also add value to any UMM U-Card, or a blank Cougar Cash card (with zero value) may be purchased at the revalue machine for $1.00.
Does Cougar Cash bill to my University account?
No, Cougar Cash is an entirely anonymous way to pay for printing and copies. The Cougar Cash value is added to the card in advance, and may be used at any of the lab or copier locations. Even when you use your UMM U-Card, your identification information is not read by the card readers.
What are the printers?
The black and white laser printers are Xerox DocuPrint N2125, and there is one located in each Computing Services lab and another at the main desk at Briggs Library (seven locations total).
The color printer is an HP Business Inkjet model 2250tn, located at the main desk in Briggs Library.
What are the Pharos Uniprint stations?
Pharos Uniprint is the network software used to manage the new laser and color printers. There is a Pharos station, with a Cougar Cash card reader attached, next to each of the printers.
How do I print to the new printers from the lab or library computers?
On Windows computers, using any software: Use the File / Print command just as you normally would. On the Print screen, make sure the printer Name is set to "Black and White Laser Printing." When you click "OK," a dialog box will pop up prompting you to "Please enter your name or username to identify your print job." Enter a name to identify your print job and click "OK."

How do I use the Pharos Station to get my printed pages?
Go to the Pharos Station in the lab you're using. Insert your Cougar Cash card (or U Card with Cougar Cash stored value) into the card reader. The Pharos Station will open a screen labeled "Releasing Print Jobs," which displays all the documents that are waiting to be released to the printer. Select the document you wish to print (the name you gave at the computer will be listed under "Owner," and the name and time of the print job will also be displayed). When you select your document, the total number of pages and the total cost to print will display at the bottom left, along with the total Cougar Cash value on your card. To send your document to the printer, click "Print." To cancel without printing, click "Log Off." Your card will eject from the card reader. Be sure to take it with you.
How much will it cost?
When you select your document on the "Releasing Print Jobs" screen at the Pharos Station, the number of pages (sheets) and the total cost display at the lower left. Be sure to check how many pages will print. If your print job is more pages than you expected, don't release it. Instead, log off, reformat your document, and print again.
What if I have a problem printing?
See the staff at the Help Desk in Computing Services (Behmler 10) or the main desk in Briggs Library.
Are refunds available?
Cougar Cash value is non-refundable, so do not put more value on a card than you will need. If you get a bad printout or photocopy and you've paid for it using Cougar Cash, bring the problem pages to the Computing Services Help Desk (Behmler 10) or the main desk in Briggs Library, where the staff can fix the problem. If your Cougar Cash card or UMM U-Card with Cougar Cash value is damaged, and can no longer be used in the printer and copier card readers, bring it to the UMM Business Office (Behmler Hall, second floor) to see if it can be replaced.
How can I pay for printing or photocopying from a CUFS account?
Organizations and individuals who have purchased Copicards in the past by charging to a budget number can still do so. Cougar Cash cards with a value of $10 are available from the library office by simply recording the area-org information along with a signature. The appropriate unit or organization will then be billed.
Who paid for the Cougar Cash system?
UMM's Business Office, Computing Services, and Briggs Library paid for most of the setup costs for Cougar Cash (revalue stations, Pharos stations, cards, etc.). The UMM student technology fee provided a one-time allocation of $50,685 that paid for the new printers, the card readers, and the Pharos Uniprint software. The costs charged to your Cougar Cash cards for printing and photocopying (five cents per page for laser printing, ten cents per page for photocopying) are intended to cover only the real costs of paper, toner, and printer maintenance.
