UMM Dial-Up Instructions for Windows 98
Note: Scripting is no longer necessary for dial-up connections, but if you have previously set up a dial up connection to UMM, it is not necessary to change it.

- Open up My Computer from the Desktop and double-click the Dial-Up Networking icon. (If there is no Dial-Up Networking icon you will need to install the Dial-Up software from your Windows 98 CD.)
- Double-click the Make New Connection icon. This will start the Make New Connection Wizard.
- Type in "UMM 2 Hour PPP Line". If your modem is properly set up it will appear in the "Select a device".
- Click the Next button in the Make New Connection Wizard. Enter 589-4526 for the phone number. Ignore the area code.
- Click the Next button in the Make New Connection Wizard. Enter "UMM 2 Hour PPP Line" and click the Finish button.
You have now created an icon for the UMM 2 Hour PPP line.
- Single-click the newly created connection icon, then right-click on the icon to bring up a pop-up menu and click Properties.
- Press the Server Types tab. Make sure Type of Dial-Up Server is set as "PPP, Internet, Windows ...". Log on to network should not be checked.
- Click on the TCP/IP Settings... button. Click on "Specify name server addresses". For the Primary DNS, enter 146.57.57.57, for the Secondary DNS enter 128.101.101.101 Click OK.
- Click OK on the properties window.
- Double-click the UMM 2 Hour PPP Line icon. This will open the Connect To dialog.
Enter your username like yourusername@cda into the username field and then enter your password into the password field. Click on Save Password if you wish. Click Connect.
- You should hear the modem begin dialing and then connecting with the server. After a few moments the connection should be established.
Your connection should now be established and you will be able to use your internet applications. When first starting a browser it may ask what dial-up icon to use.
Tell it to use UMM 2 Hour PPP Line. Once choosen, each time you start your browser it will begin the connection to the selected
icon if you are not connected to the internet already.
