Minimum System Requirements
For Windows
For Mac
  • Windows 98
  • Windows 98 SE
  • Windows Millenium (ME)
  • Windows NT 4.0
  • Windows 2000
  • Windows XP (recommended)
  • Mac OS X 10.1.x
  • Mac OS X 10.2.x and later
Hardware
  • Pentium 233 (recommended: Pentium 500+ MHz)
  • 64 MB RAM (recommended: 128+ MB RAM)
  • 52 MB harddrive space
Hardware
  • PowerPC 604e 266 MHz (recommended: PowerPC G4 667+ MHz)
  • G3, G4, 64 MB RAM (recommended: 256+ MB RAM)
  • 72 MB harddrive space

Finding Thunderbird
Download the latest version of Thunderbird.

Installing Thunderbird
For Windows
  1. Download Thunderbird from one of the above [For Windows] locations.

    • It would be best saved to somewhere easily accessible,
      like your Desktop.
    • OR select "run" to install immediately (if your browser allows)

  2. If you chose to save the executible, "Thunderbird Setup 1.0.exe",

    • find the easily accessible place you saved it to
    • and run the file simply by double-clicking on it.


  3. You should now see the beginning of the "Mozilla Thunderbird Setup" wizard.

    • On top in bold, it should read "Welcome to Mozilla Thunderbird!"


    • Click NEXT.




  4. Read the license agreement and click [accept] if you wish to continue installing Thunderbird.

    • Click NEXT.




  5. Select standard from the two options

    • Click NEXT.




  6. A summary of components being added.

    • Click NEXT.




  7. Setup is now complete. Check [] Launch Mozilla Thunderbird 1.0 now
    if you wish to run Thunderbird immediately.
    Otherwise, uncheck the box to run Thunderbird at a more convenient time.

    • Click FINISH.

Click here to set up Thunderbird to send and receive mail.

For Mac

  1. Download Thunderbird from one of the above [For Macs] locations.


    • The download should automatically save the file to the desktop.
    • It should be called: download.mozilla.org

  2. Run the downloaded file.

    • A window will pop up extracting the thunderbird disc image.



  3. Run the thunderbird disc image.

    • The image should be on the desktop area.
    • It should be called thunderbird-mac-Mach0.dmg



  4. Upon running the image, the Finder window will pop up with
    the Thunderbird executible within it.
