OmniPage Pro (Version 10.0)

  1. Make sure Scanner is turned on. If it displays the opening screen for more than 1 minute, it is probably locked up and you will need to restart both the computer and the scanner (while the computer is rebooting). If the scanner freezes on the opening page of "OmniPage", then use the Ctrl-Alt-Delete keys to end the "OmniPage" software program. Use the mouse to select the Start key (in lower left hand corner of monitor) and then move the mouse to the restart option. While this is happening, turn OFF the scanner. Wait until it is all the way off and then turn it on again. The scanner needs to be turned on again before the computer has completed booting up again.
  2. Select the "OmniPage" icon on the desktop or click on the "Start" button to select programs and then the Omnipage program.
  3. After "OmniPage" has loaded, select the OCR Wizard which should take you through the scanning process or click on the "Process" dropdown menu and click on the "Scan Image" option.
  4. If you used the proofreader, a new window titled "OCR Proofreader" will open. Make all the necessary chages and click "OK" after the Proof reading is complete.
  5. The "Save As" option screen will display.
  6. Be sure to choose the format of the application you want to use this text in by using the "Save as Type:" box on the screen. On the "Save As" screen: select the location to save the file on your diskette; file name for the saved file; select file type such as Word, Excel, or access format and in the Save Options under File Options: "create 1 file for all pages" & "retain graphics" are good options to leave selected. You can also choose to have the program add a hard carriage return after every line.
  7. Click "OK"
  8. The application such as Word or Excel will open and display your data. Correct any changes in your document and save the file.
