Win SCP
WinSCP is a program you can use to transfer files to or from your disk to your web (www) or cda account.
It is recommended that you use WinSCP instead of Ws_ftp. You can access WinSCP from any Computing Services
lab computer running Windows. These machines are located in the Behmler 10 main Computing Services facility,
Behm39 (24 Hour lab), Camden 10 Lab, Student Center Lab and the Library PC Lab.
- Launch Win SCP
- Verify that Host Name is www.morris.umn.edu or cda.morris.umn.edu.
-
Enter your User Name for the account you are accessing. This is usually the part of your email
address before the @.
- Enter your Password for the account you are accessing.
- Click Login.
A message may appear saying that the “server’s host key is not cached in registry.” If you get this message
click Yes.
- If your file is listed in the right pane, you do not need to change directories. (Or if you want your file transferred from disk to your main home directory)
- If your file is in a folder in your home directory, double-click on that folder. (Or if you want to transfer a file to a different directory). If you want to go up a level, click on the “parent” button on the toolbar.
- If your file is in a directory other than your own, use the tree view on the left. Select the file to be transferred
- If you are transferring a file from your account, drag the file from the WinSCP window to the directory where you want it to be saved.
- If you are transferring a file from your disk, drag the file into the WinSCP window.
