WS FTP

Ws_ftp is a program you can use to transfer files to or from your disk to your web (www) or cda account. You can access Ws_ftp from any Computing Services lab computer running Windows.

Working with Ws_ftp:

  1. Go to Start and then go to Program Files.
  2. Go to Ws_ftp and click on WS_FTP95 LE.
  3. Select www or cda from the Profile Name.
  4. Verify that Host Name is www.morris.umn.edu or cda.morris.umn.edu.
  5. Enter your User ID for the account you are accessing.
  6. Enter your Password for the account you are accessing.
  7. Click OK.
Select the correct directory from the left pane
  1. Click on the ChgDir button to change the directory.
  2. Type in a: to change to the 3-1/2" floppy drive and press OK .
Select the correct directory from the right pane
  1. If your file is listed in the right pane, you do not need to change directories. (Or if you want your file transferred from disk to your main home directory)
  2. If your file is in a folder in your home directory, double-click on that folder. (Or if you want to transfer a file to a different directory)
  3. If your file is in a directory other than your own, press the ChgDir button and enter the full path.
Select the file to be transferred
  • If you are transferring a file from your account, select the file in the right pane and click the <- button to transfer it to your disk.
  • If you are transferring a file from your disk, select the file in the left pane and click the -> button to transfer it to your account.
