UMM Student Technology Fee Proposal Guidelines

Proposals may be submitted by any member or group that is part of the UMM community: faculty members, staff, students, student organizations, or UMM departments. Approximately $180,000 in funds will be available to be allocated for the 2005-06 academic year.

Submitted proposals will be judged on the following criteria:

  • Projects must provide direct, visible benefits to UMM students.
  • Projects should make new investments in technological infrastructure, equipment, and services ("new" may be interpreted to also mean expansion of existing investments).
  • Projects recommended for funding should provide maximum benefits to the maximum number of students. Proposals that will benefit a small number of students are welcomed if the impact on students will be significant.
  • Projects must be for technology: for example, hardware, software, networking, access, support services, and data.
  • Funded projects must fall inside the parameters of technology that is supported at UMM.

All submitted proposals are public information that may be reviewed at this Web link.

Recommendations for funding allocations will be made jointly by the Director of Computing Services and the President of MCSA in March 2005. Final funding decisions will be made by the Chancellor. The period of February16 through March 2, 2005 is set aside in this process for public comment on the technology fee proposals. Comments may be sent to techfee@morris.umn.edu .
