This is an on-going position within CST in which a UMM student is hired to learn and assist in administrative functions. Allyce’s responsibilities include assisting with all aspects of the Student Involvement component, including work on CST’s publicity, press releases, document design, and visibility efforts. Other duties include participation and recording of weekly staff meetings and assisting with special projects.

Joe works with the Willmar Community-Owned Grocery Board to develop a database of local vendors and businesses interested in buying local produce. He is also working to develop a list of prospective members and to assist in the creation of marketing materials.

Jolee is researching the level of carbon emissions that come from food production and transportation. She is also working with the off-campus student union on a winterization workshop.

Laura is looking at urban forestry, particularly the parks and trails around the city of Morris. Her work lies not just in planting trees, but also managing trees and studying what other plants should be planted out on the prairie.

Chelsea is continuing the energy position a GreenCorps member has held for the last two years. She is working with Stevens FORWARD! to support their energy benchmarking work as well as educating the community about improving energy conservation.

Rebecca is working with the University of Minnesota Extension Service to help create a curriculum for use in their USDA funded Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). This involves researching possible curriculum topics as well as helping to implement the curriculum.

Rhea serves as the first contact person for the general public. She works to answer questions and direct visitors to the proper staff member or office. She also manages the main office, where responsibilities include phone/office coverage, receptionist work, data entry, filing, and running errands.

Allie is working with West Wind Village, a nursing home in Morris, MN. Her work includes organizing and orchestrating activities for the elders. She also plans to start an Adopt-a-Grandparent program between West Wind, the University, and Morris Area Schools.
