The Center for Small Towns was pleased to co-host the Rural Arts and Culture (RAC) Summit “Leveraging Arts and Culture to Build Thriving Communities” with Springboard for the Arts on June 5 & 6 2013 at the University of Minnesota, Morris campus. The RAC Summit was a convergence of great ideas from individuals and communities all over the state, and nation. In total the RAC Summit drew around 280 diverse and passionate participants. There was an emphasis on Minnesota’s strong sense of place, interdependence, and economic vitality through innovative, artist driven partnerships.
The Summit was supported by a multitude of organizations including Springboard for the Arts, Forum Arts, Green Island, Five Wings Art Council, PartnerSHIP 4 Health, Health Reform Minnesota, and the Center for Small Towns at the University of Minnesota Morris. This event was made possible by the hard work of our various partnering organizations as well as the generous funding support from the McKnight Foundation and the Minnesota State Arts Board.
