Quake?

So we have had earth tremors in our area. That surely was astounding news. Never had a possible thought that there could be such out here in the rural area.

Always associated earthquakes with the coast lines of a continent and such quake regions are found in various places around the globe. Also the volcanic regions in the same places.

Not to forget that quakes are volcanoes are likewise found in many islands in the several oceans.

But again--in our region?--never dreamed of such even tho we understand that there have been earth tremors in the interior parts of our country.

Have been just wondering--and now outloud--do you think that the Great Lakes--we have one of them just north of us--might have something to do with our tremors. Those Great Lakes are not potholes--they are almost little oceans inland and with perhaps rocky shorelines, if not visible above could be found below. Something like those on the coasts.

Perhaps even some of our largest lakes among the 10,000 in Minnesota may supply some of the answers as to tremors? Who knows. There may be some of those what they call "faults" in our basic terrains--further down below?

Perhaps we may find out some day--in the meantime one has cause to just wonder. After all too this old earth was not born yesterday. Doubtless the center of it is cooling and this naturally will cause shrinkage, sinking and strata changes. The effects can happen here. Something new. Never heard before. Like those breaking of the sound barriers with the sonic booms that startled us--all due to man's flying machines.
