West Coast

Sarah Lofgren, a junior from Thief River Falls, and Megan Mekoli (Blaine sophomore) posed with Professor Jennifer Goodnough at the San Diego Zoo. Chemistry students and faculty were in California attending the National American Chemical Society meeting.

Nine members of the Outdoor Club also traveled to the west coast to visit Salt Lake City.

Out of competition. Journalist and former University Relations staffer Sue Dieter (right) and Director of Financial Aid Pam Engebretson (both alumni) proudly wore their UMM attire during a trip to Washington, D.C.


26 UMM Habitat for Humanity workers visited Albany, Georgia while half a dozen Mock Trial members competed in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Behold the camel that doesn't run from cougars! Sara Kloek (Stillwater senior) and Johanna Farmer (Spearfish, SD senior) showed off their school spirit at the Arabian Desert Extravaganza while attending the First Annual Women as Global Leaders Conference in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

The conference center was situated in front of the Gulf of Oman and the Burj al Arab, the world's only 7 star hotel.

Out of competition. Director of Computing Services David Loewi visited China and, of course, met someone who had attended the U and conducted research in Morris. No, not Chairman Mao!


The Biology Club sent seven members to Belize.

Out of competition...literally! Here's hoping the premiere swimming and diving team spent their spring break resting up after competing with 400 athletes at the Liberal Arts Challenge (LAC) in Cedar Rapids, Iowa in February, the final event of their 5 1/2 month competition season. Pictured (starting back row, left to right) are Chandra Hutchens, Anne Sundby, Naomi Throngard, Jamie Luecke, Kristine Ertl (LAC medal winner!), Lauren Trapp (LAC medal winner!), Bree McCannon (LAC medal winner!), Megan McLennan, Danielle Thibodo, and Robin Moe.
