Our congratulations to Dr. Leonard Munstermann '64, recipient of this year's Distinguished Alumni Award. A renowned Yale scientist, Dr. Munstermann's research on mosquitoes, funded primarily through prestigious NIH grants, has taken him to 49 states and 56 foreign countries, resulting in 60 refereed publications. He should be considered, says UMM's Professor Eric Klinger, among the founders of UMM. Dr. Munstermann served as Dr. Klinger's first undergraduate research assistant; since then, the campus has excelled in providing research opportunities to undergraduate students. The UMM Distinguished Alumni Award is presented annually to UMM alumni who have made noteworthy contributions in their professional lives, to public service, or in service to the University, thus reflecting favorably upon UMM. |

| Also honored at the annual Alumni Association Dinner (which included this year's inductees into the Cougar Hall of Fame) were Michael Rodriguez '88, Leesa Beal '82, Larry Traversie '00, and members of the Cougar men's basketball teams of 1993 and 1994. |
| The campus paused Saturday morning to honor two UMM faculty who passed away during the past year. A service for Peter Whelan, professor of geology, was followed by a memorial tree planting for Jay Roshal, professor emeritus of biology. Our thanks to all, present in body or thought, who paused to remember these educators. They will be missed. |

| A new addition to the celebration was a concert presented Sunday afternoon by the combined forces of current and alumni choir and band members. Bravo! Encore! |
