2005 Undergraduate Research Symposium

Dr. Jeff Ratliff-Crain, chair of the organizing committee, welcomed participants of all ages to UMM's 5th Annual Undergraduate Research Symposium Friday, April 15, 2005. "A strong research program," points out Professor of Geology James Cotter, the 2000 recipient of the Presidential Award for Excellence in Science and one of UMM's Horace T. Morse educators, "provides a better quality of education...for maturing scholars." Performances, presentations and posters covered topics ranging from democracy in Iran, reason and paradox, niching in evolutionary computation, subway television commercials, demotion of the Shrew to pop-feminist teen idol, glacial scours, antibiotic resistance of staph isolates from milk, cloning, adult attachment styles, truck driver productivity, and child labor.
