The campus mail system is also used as a means of public communication. Students, faculty, and staff who are conducting college business may have their public communications freely distributed. Others may not use the campus mail system for public communication, except as provided, for a sanctioned University activity. Notices and announcements to members of student organizations and the campus community will normally be included in the electronic Weekly Bulletin rather than distributed through campus mail.

Post Office Boxes

Every student is assigned a post office (PO) box upon registration; the number of this box should be noted on all incoming mail. We ask students to check their PO box and collect their mail regularly. Any changes of local address should be reported to the Post Office. When students move away, even for the summer, they should fill out a change of address form.

Standard Campus Address Format for PO boxes is

[Name]
[Morris PO Box Number]
University of Minnesota, Morris
600 E 4th St
Morris, Minnesota 56267-2132

Postal Services Available

Services not available at the Morris Post Office (such as money orders) may be obtained at the USPS Post Office at 105 E 6th St. downtown.

USPS mail is delivered once a day, Monday through Saturday, to the mailroom, usually at around 9:30 a.m. Though mail is delivered to the campus on Saturdays, only First-Class student mail is delivered to campus PO boxes, and there is no window service on Saturdays. Campus mail is picked up from the mailroom and delivered to the campus buildings Monday through Friday, at about 10 a.m., and again at about 1:00 p.m. Mail delivery to student PO boxes is usually completed by early afternoon. Outgoing, off-campus mail is picked up by the USPS Monday through Friday at 1:30 p.m.

We provide service for USPS outgoing mail, UPS, FedEx (both Express and Ground), and SpeeDee for departments and students. There is a nominal fee for personal use of package vendors. Feel free to stop in; we can help you ascertain the best option for your shipment.

If you have an item that requires overnight service, we recommend using a vendor other than USPS, such as UPS or FedEx. Items sent via FedEx must be at the Morris Post Office by 10:30 a.m., and those sent via UPS by 2:00 p.m.

Newspapers and Magazines

Due to the large volume of newspapers and magazines received at the Post Office, we cannot hold them for extended periods. If you get regular delivery of a periodical, please pick it promptly. If this presents a problem, please let us know so we can work out an arrangement.
