Federal Academic Competitiveness Grant
The Academic Competitiveness Grant (ACG) is a federally-funded gift program for first or second-year undergraduate students. To be eligible for this grant students must be a Federal Pell Grant recipient, enrolled at least half-time (6 credits) in a degree program and have successfully completed a rigorous secondary school program of study as designated by the State of Minnesota. The ACG is available to students who graduated after January 1, 2006. The student’s high school transcript will be evaluated to determine eligibility. The ACG is based on grade level progression. An ACG1 is awarded to a student with 0 – 29 credits for an award of $750, and ACG2 is awarded to a student with 30 – 59 credits and a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 for an award of $1,300.
The amount of the ACG, when combined with a Pell Grant, may not exceed the student’s cost of attendance. This grant is based on sufficient federal funds from the U.S. Department of Education and the student’s enrollment status as of the Essential Deadline of each term.
For a list of recognized rigorous programs of secondary school study in every state, visit the U.S. Department of Education.
The Priority deadline to complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the University of Minnesota, Morris to the federal processor is March 1.
Students must be enrolled for at 12 credits to receive a full ACG. When students are enrolled for less than 12 credits the ACG will be adjusted based on the number of credits each term.
