Before considering a private loan, speak with a financial aid officer to make sure that all federal, state, and institutional financial resources are exhausted. If there are no other ways to fill the financial gap, shop around and do some homework before choosing a private loan. And remember, keep written records of all forms, applications, and correspondence with your lender, especially regarding discounts and special deals, for the entire life of your loan.
Note: UMM offers all Federal loan funds through the Federal Direct Loan program. UMM students are not eligible to apply for Stafford Loans through private lenders.

Due to the limited liquidity in the student lending marketplace and a shrinking buyer's market for student loans, many lenders have been forced to discontinue their student loan programs. If you have borrowed from a lender in the past that is no longer listed on this page, please contact them regarding the status of your current loan(s).
Be cautious of loans that do not require school certification, as they often charge higher interest rates.
The University of Minnesota, Morris, does not endorse nor accept any incentives, financial or otherwise, to include lenders on this page.
