Eligibility Requirements for Students First Bachelor's Degree

Students need to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to receive federal, state or institutional financial aid and meet the following requirements:

  • U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen.
  • High school diploma or General Education Development (GED) certificate.
  • Demonstrate financial need.
  • Register with Selective Service, if required.
  • Working toward a degree or certificate in an eligible program.
  • Have a valid Social Security Number.
  • Maintain Academic Progress Requirements.
  • Not be in default on a federal student loan and not owe money on a federal student grant.
  • Not be convicted under federal or state law of the sale or possession of drugs.
  • Enrolled for all courses by the Essential Deadlines each term.
  • Maintain UMM's financial aid Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) Requirements.
  • Certify that you will use federal, state or institutional student aid only for educational purposes/certification statement on refunds and default.
Students who have a first Bachelor's degree are typically not eligible for federal, state or institutional financial aid.
