Student Loan Exit Counseling

Students must complete loan exit counseling when they:

  • borrowed from a federal loan program while at UMM
  • are about to graduate from UMM
  • do not register for classes at UMM (but have not graduated)
  • register for/drop below half time status or withdraw from classes at UMM
  • transfer to another college or university

Federal Loan Programs

Federal Direct Loans - *Required*
Students must complete exit counseling if they borrowed from the Ford Federal Direct Loan program (subsidized and unsubsidized) while at UMM.

Federal Perkins Loans - *Required*
Students must complete exit counseling if they borrowed from the Federal Perkins Loan program while at UMM.

Alternative Loan Programs

Alternative Loans Programs- *Not Required*
Exit counseling is not required by the University of Minnesota Morris for the alternative loan programs. Students should check with their specific lender(s) to understand their alternative loan repayment obligations.
